Seeking Award-Winning Work

The variety and impact of psychoanalytic work and psychoanalytic thought occurring around the world invariably inspires The Sigourney Award trustees, judges, and the community. In it’s 35th Award year, the Trust continues to spotlight Mary Sigourney’s forward thinking.

The expansiveness of Mary’s vision included the application of psychoanalytic principles well beyond psychoanalytic research, clinical, or academic work. She sought to recognize artistic work, beyond what are considered conventional practices, that has influenced or impacted psychoanalysis or expanded awareness and acceptance of psychoanalysis.

This year, consider nominating or applying using a broader lens of what constitutes outstanding psychoanalytic work. Apply or Nominate work that:

• Substantially contributed to psychoanalysis and psychoanalytic thought and was completed between 2015-2024 by individuals, teams, or organizations

• Advanced the understanding or influence of psychoanalysis for the public good and was innovative, insightful, or groundbreaking

• Moved beyond conventional boundaries of contemporary psychoanalytic theory or practice expressed through artistic endeavors such as film, literature, and other representational or abstract works of art
